Courage

Courage

A Useless and despicable feature
It has crawled into heroics and literature
like a  bruised and bleeding body
and there it has stayed, encouraging
stupidity and risking lives for the sake
of  glory.
A supposed eternal fortune, a chance to be
remembered
not just as a statistic, but as a legend.
All people who have died in the pursuit of glory
expectedly, did not think that their noble
epithets, poems, great works
would only be read out by rather inglorious
school children
slaving over a paper tomb
Portraying epic deeds, tasks, challenge and sacrifice.
Or as the child sees it: homework
