Bonjour tout le monde!
Firstly, thank you to everyone for all the help and support I have received so far. The amount of positive feedback and support I’ve had from students, teachers, schools and my local community has been overwhelming and it’s a privilege to be representing you all!
For me, the last few weeks have been pretty busy, as my Young Ambassador’s Project has started to get into full swing. Following my article in The Southland Times, I had an incredible response from people in my...
We are starting to work on our book project and classes in English, French, German, Art and History will be busy over the next two terms getting work on our focus completed. We are going on a month long tour to France starting Wednesday April 9th and we will be visiting the NZ war graves and Somme battlefields to visit the graves of former PNBHS Old Boys who died in the Great War serving NZ. This will also form the basis of some of our project work with our partner school in Hirson.
Our little friends in Amiens crafted poppies for year 8 and sent them together with a video where they all introduced themselves. Year 8 at St Margaret's will wear their poppies made in France proudly on ANZAC Day and are now about to craft some for their French buddies.
To start off the project we had Helen from the Dunedin Toitu Museum come and talk to us about WW1. We then made a brainstorm to plan out what we wanted to learn about the war topic. We also visited the Toitu Museum and looked at the roll of honour and other historical artefacts from the war.

Hello, we are a group at Saint Dominic’s Catholic College in Auckland, New Zealand and we are excited to learn more about the women’s roles in the war. We are constantly learning new facts as we progress further ahead. We are very committed and are working hard on this topic. We are all looking forward to working with our French school and sharing information. We have realised that the women’s roles in the war were just as important as the men’s as they had to take the men’s jobs and earn money...
Bonjour and Hi!
St Margaret's College in Christchurch and the Collège Étouvie in Amiens started their co-operation a couple of months ago, firstly by creating a forum for a virtual exchange of ideas, texts, pictures, etc. Have a look at the poppelicot wiki.
Our general idea is to keep this intercultural, bilingual and interdisciplinary project as student centred as possible. Over the coming years, different year levels will participate and contribute to the wiki. In 2014 we focus on year 8...
I am very...
We have made a start at St Dominic's College!
With the interest of at least 30 girls, we have begun to plan a video introduction of our school, ready to send to France.
They are really excited by it – seeking out relatives war records etc.
Onward and upward!
En avant!
Bonjour à tous!
Voici mon premier blog. Je ne sais pas vraiment quoi écrire, mais je commençais par dire je m’appelle Caitlin et je suis une étudiante du secondaire. Je ne peux pas attends pour le voyage de les jeunes ambassadeurs a France. I wanted to begin my first post with a bit of French just to get into the habit and I may make some of these posts with the majority in French.
In this first post I wanted to talk briefly on what I plan to achieve and create with the inquiry project we...
