Vidéos YA 2018 - Sur le chemin de nos ancêtres : ressources pédagogiques Featured

Written by VCTeam

In 2018 an exchange of Young Ambassadors between New Zealand and France concluded a 4-year government-to-government program in commemoration of the Great War: Shared Histories / Mémoires héritées, histoire partagée.

Shared Histories was set up by The Ministry of Education (NZ) and le Ministère de l'Education Nationale (France) to raise awareness among students in both New Zealand and France of the contribution of the New Zealand Division who fought on the Western Front during the Great War.

Under this initiative, six New Zealand students traveled to northern France in July to be hosted by their French counterparts who had visited New Zealand earlier in the year, and to follow in the footsteps of ancestors who fought, and in several cases died, on foreign soil.

A small film crew accompanied the New Zealanders in France to create an educational resource for NZ teachers, Sur le chemin de nos ancêtres, as the young students visited former battlefields and recounted their stories of ancestors who
fought in the war.
